What are your main responsibilities in your current role?<\/h2>\n

As a Project Director, I am responsible for ensuring that the project consistently meets the client\u2019s expectations and reaches a successful outcome – that is, achieving the specific objectives we set: timing, budget, impact, results, etc. I support our clients and the artists we collaborate with throughout all phases of the project, from contract negotiation to final delivery. I really enjoy turnkey projects!\t<\/p>\n

How has your professional experience prepared you for your current role, and what has been your greatest challenge?<\/h2>\n

My career path has been somewhat unconventional, as I entered the art world somewhat by chance. I studied Law, Business Administration and Management, and later Political Science. I completed the ICEX Master\u2019s program, among others, worked at the Spanish Embassy in Lisbon, and eventually, I founded a consultancy specializing in the Chinese market. <\/p>\n

What inspires you and keeps you informed in a constantly evolving career? What platforms do you use to stay up to date?<\/h2>\n

I’ve always loved reading and studying, so I always have something new on my plate. Additionally, I teach at several universities and business schools, which forces me to stay updated\u2014my students help me a lot in that regard! I also try to attend as many art fairs and exhibitions as possible and regularly meet with other professionals in the sector to exchange ideas. Oh, and of course, Instagram and LinkedIn, where I follow the careers of many artists and colleagues in the field.<\/p>\n

What skills do you think have contributed to the success you have in your career today?<\/h2>\n

Coming from more professionalized industries has been key for me, as it has allowed me to apply “different” skills to a very unique context like the cultural sector. I believe I bring a bit of structure and management to a world full of creative talent. That said, my greatest skill is something anyone can develop: I work incredibly hard!<\/p>\n

What advice would you give to someone just starting their career?<\/h2>\n

I always tell my students: education, networking, and perseverance. The industry is still not fully professionalized, so I believe strong education is essential. Additionally, in the art world, you need to collaborate with many people to go far, so you must nurture and build your network. Lastly, as in any field, only those who persevere make it to the end. But stay motivated\u2014this is one of the most rewarding careers I know!<\/p><\/div>\n
