What are your main responsibilities in your current role?
My main responsibilities range from the most basic to the most complex. I am in charge of everything that happens at the gallery ‘El Chico,’ located on the border of La Latina and Embajadores neighborhoods, within a 1960s vocational complex.
How has your professional experience prepared you for your current role, and what has been your biggest challenge?
I started my career in a gallery, then moved on to independent projects, and eventually directed a private collection with public spaces while working for an art consultancy. This gave me the drive and learning experience necessary to eventually open my own art gallery in Madrid. I would say that every step has presented challenges.
What inspires you and keeps you informed in a constantly evolving career? What platforms do you use to stay updated?
My inspiration comes from the artists I work with, who are constantly evolving. My go-to platforms are Artnet, The Art Newspaper, Artforum, and Artsy, in that order.
What skills do you believe have contributed to your career success today?
Common sense, generosity, kindness, and resilience.
What advice would you give to someone starting their career?
They should understand that it’s a profession driven by vocation.
