It’s true that with the pandemic, meetings and getting to know people have become easier thanks to digitalization and social media. However, meeting someone in person and building connections face-to-face is much more valuable and can help you go further.

The million-dollar question is, how do you do it?

As we mentioned in one of our blogs, digital networking can contribute a lot to quickly and instantly building networks. But when it comes to having a deeper conversation, in-person interaction is necessary.

Step-by-Step to Achieve It

  1. Golden Rule: Yes, you need to follow opinion leaders, galleries, museums, art fairs, and more to know what they’re up to. This will not only help you know which events to attend and when but also allow you to research and be ready for the conversations that may happen on-site.
  2. Don’t want to go alone? Afraid of not knowing anyone and approaching people directly? Don’t worry; the best way to overcome this, if you’re going alone, isn’t just about mustering courage but knowing that EVERYONE is doing exactly what you are. That’s why attending events is so important.
  3. Introduction: Considering the previous point, it’s super important that you are clear about your goal, what you do, what interests you, and even more importantly, aim to have that famous coffee with the person you want to connect with. But be careful, treat the event like a first date—don’t lay all your cards on the table at once.
  4. Return to Social Media: To deepen and maintain this connection, follow up with the person. We recommend LinkedIn, but you can use whichever platform you’re most comfortable with. Let them know you enjoyed the conversation and mention that you’d like to grab a coffee sometime.
  5. YOU CAN DO IT: Building a network isn’t easy, but it’s possible.
